I HAD TO LOOK UP AGAIN

I had to look up again why the Ukraine never joined NATO and found the article about how Putin implied it would lead to all-out-war (reference: “That time Ukraine tried to join NATO ?and NATO said no”). Then it clicked.. many key components of the USSR’s strategic ballistic missile systems were designed / machined in the Ukraine (ex. “Morozov Design Bureau and the Malyshev Tank Factory (leaders in world tank production in the 1930s through 1980s); Khartron (aerospace and nuclear electronics); and the Turboatom turbines producer” reference: Kharkiv – Wikipedia). The reason why Putin is so against the Ukraine falling under Western influence is the very real possibility that some of their key technologies and weapons-manufacturing capabilities not only would be stifled, but that it might reveal key weaknesses within their military capabilities and technologies. When you look at just how desperate the situation is in the Ukraine – the fact they would unilaterally authorize both nukes and foreign troops to be stationed on their soil; I think they’re really scared of what will happen if the Russians return to the Ukraine.. seems to me that NATO really has no choice – make the Ukraine a part of the NATO alliance. The alternative is to hand back to Putin his military capability to sustain protracted military conflicts in multiple theaters. The flip side is the very real possibility of a nuclear conflict. In short, welcome back to the New Cold War…
